Spring dates before the last frost assume the soil has thawed and is dry enough to work. After a late or wet spring, wait for that even if the date has passed.

Where frost is rare

Where winters are mild, leeks are sown in late summer or fall and grown through the cool months, maturing best when average temperatures stay below about 75F.

Based on University of Arizona AZ1005 Maricopa County calendar (low desert, ~ zone 9b-10a); UF/IFAS Gardening Solutions: Leeks (Florida, sow in fall; harvest in 3-4 months); Clemson HGIC (late summer/early fall planting for early-winter harvest in South Carolina). VH021 lists a leek variety but no planting months. Warm-winter areas are matched to zones approximately, so use the months for your region.
