Where frost is rare
Ginger is a perennial where frost is rare. In Florida, plant rhizome pieces in early spring before the heat builds and harvest 8-10 months later, when the tops die back. In freeze-prone areas, mulch the bed or use containers, and the rhizomes resprout in spring.
