Centipedegrass is a warm-season grass for the South and the transition zone. In colder zones most varieties do not survive the winter, so the dates there apply only to the most cold-tolerant varieties.

Where frost is rare

In Florida, seed from April to July so seedlings get a full growing season before winter; fall seeding is discouraged. It needs acidic soil (about pH 4.5-6.5) and turns yellow with iron chlorosis above about pH 6.5-7. Nematodes have historically limited its use on south Florida's sandy soils.

Based on UF/IFAS EDIS ENH8/LH009 Centipedegrass for Florida Lawns (April-July seeding, given for Florida as a whole; zone_9 and zone_10 mapped from Florida). No Arizona, California or Hawaii guide covering centipedegrass planting was found. Warm-winter areas are matched to zones approximately, so use the months for your region.
