Spring dates before the last frost assume the soil has thawed and is dry enough to work. After a late or wet spring, wait for that even if the date has passed.

Where frost is rare

In Florida, plant bare-root muscadines while they are dormant in winter. Container-grown vines can go in any time of year if you water them. European bunch grapes are largely ruled out in Florida by Pierce's disease, but muscadines resist it. In Arizona's low deserts (below 4,500 ft), European grapes do well when planted in early spring.
