Bermudagrass is a warm-season grass for the South and the transition zone. In colder zones most varieties do not survive the winter, so the dates there apply only to the most cold-tolerant varieties.

Where frost is rare

In much of Florida bermudagrass can be planted in any month, though spring and summer give the fastest growth; in the low Arizona desert summer is the preferred planting season, and new lawns should not be overseeded with winter ryegrass in their first winter. California guidance favors seeding from mid-April to mid-May.
